There are an estimated 4-10 million American citizens living abroad — figures that exceed the population of many states in the US. While the exact number may be elusive, what is clear is that on a daily basis Americans overseas are involved in de facto public diplomacy and the representation of America and her ideals in myriad and many settings all over the world. Organizations such has American Citizens Abroad, which has championed issues impacting Americans overseas since 1978, and newer organizations such as the Overseas Vote Foundation, the Association of Americans Resident Overseas, and others are dedicated to advocacy of issues impacting Americans living outside the country. I am going to post on the issues that affect Americans overseas in an effort to draw greater attention to them.
